We're an AGS Jeweller

When you’re ready to make a fine jewellery purchase, whether it’s an engagement ring, a necklace you hope to pass down to a loved one or just a treat for yourself, you need to choose a jeweller who truly understands jewellery, diamonds and gemstones. A skilled jeweller can help you find the right piece of jewellery to ensure you’re not only happy with what you’ve bought, but you’re confident in its quality.

But how much does your jeweller really know about the products they sell? Well, if they’re a member of the American Gem Society, quite a bit.

What is the American Gem Society?

The American Gem Society (AGS) is an elite organization dedicated to consumer protection through education and certification. To be a member of the AGS, a jeweller must successfully complete the required coursework and classroom study, along with written and practical exams.

The AGS requires each member to take an annual recertification exam to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest gemstone treatments, ethical issues and appraisal practices. The test ensures your jeweller has the most important knowledge to keep your best interests in mind when helping you choose your next piece of jewellery.

According to the AGS, only 5% of jewellers and appraisers have met their strict standards to maintain certification, and J.H. Young & Sons Ltd in Brantford is proud to be one of them. Shopping with a knowledgeable, credentialed jeweller is the number one way you can ensure you are making an informed decision at the sales counter.

The AGS has produced the following video to explain in their own words why you should always work with an AGS jeweller.
