A rich history filled with constant innovation, leaders in quartz watchmaking, and a commitment to making watches better every day, that’s what Citizen watches have to offer. Rise of Citizen Citizen Watch Company is known for its breakthrough innovations and their technology in watchmaking. Their product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty” remains a constant motivation for them to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design which inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. Their story begins in 1918 when a Tokyo jeweller, Kamekichi Yakamazi, founded the Shokosha Watch Research Institute and began producing pocket watches. Their very first commercial model, the caliber 16 pocket watch, was sold in 1924 under the brand name Citizen. Sadly, the progress of Citizen watches was put on hold due to World War II, which devastated Japan and its watch industry. Soon after the war, a new era began for Citizen watches when watches overseas were being marketed all around the world in the name of Citizen Watch Company. Stylish and Functional Citizen watch company created a name for themselves during the 70s and 80s through constant innovations in watchmaking, especially by creating the first-ever titanium watch, Citizen X-8. Yes, you heard it right, a watch made of the world’s strongest and lightest metal, titanium. They went on to become leaders in quartz technology. If their achievements in watchmaking were not impressive enough, they created a watch called the Crystron Solar Cell, which was the world’s first solar-powered analog quartz watch. This Citizen watch was the forerunner of the Citizen Eco-Drive, the company’s most important and successful product launch ever. With the slogan, Better Starts Now, Citizen Watch Company strives to produce something better. As a result, more functions were added to their watches. They offered more beautiful designs and released a greater variety of watches to suit every citizen’s taste. In 2002, Citizen Watch Company created the world’s thinnest Eco-Drive watch, Stiletto, at that time, as thin as 4.4mm. Fast forward to 2008, Citizen bought Bulova watch company. On top of this, their high-end Citizen watches are hand-assembled by Meisters and Super Meisters. Citizen’s collection including the world’s slimmest LCD watch, the first voice recognition watch, and the world’s first professional dive watch, Citizen’s record of “world firsts” is undeniably recognized and unmatched. — Still haven’t made up your mind about buying a Citizen watch for yourself or your loved ones?
