What Makes A Jewellery Expert?

Have you ever wondered what makes a jewellery professional an expert in their field?  In addition to having extensive experience and knowledge about gems, precious metals and jewellery design, a reputable jewellery professional should also have industry recognized education and credentials.

Where are our jewellery experts trained?

At J.H. Young Jewellers our experts are trained through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).  GIA is a nonprofit institution committed to protecting and educating the public in the field of gems and jewellery. Since 1931, GIA created standards used in gemstone evaluation around the world by creating the 4Cs of Diamond Quality and the GIA 7 Pearl Value Factors™. The GIA is widely considered the most prestigious professional gemology school in the world.

GIA credentials are a globally recognized mark of excellence that show a jewellery professional is qualified to best assist customers with the challenges and opportunities of the ever-evolving gem and jewellery industry.

What qualifications do our jewellery experts have?

GIA Graduate Gemologist

The Graduate Gemologist (GG) designation is earned along with a diploma from GIA. The diploma program covers scientific and technical aspects of identifying and grading diamonds and coloured stones, giving comprehensive knowledge of the jewellery industry. The GG designation at the end of an individual’s name is recognized instantly throughout the world and is a mark of expertise in the jewellery industry.
