Many of you know how stunning PANDORA jewellery is, but how many of you know the company’s story? The tale about a business with a distinctive brand and distinctive products that in just a few years has made the exceptional journey from a local Danish jeweller to a world-leading international jewellery company.
The Beginning Stages
Nearly 37 years ago, back in 1982, Danish goldsmith, Per Enevoldsen, and his wife Winnie, established a small jeweller’s shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. The couple would often travel to Thailand to search for jewellery to import and as the demand for their products grew, they gradually shifted their focus towards wholesale to clients in Denmark.
fAfter several successful years as wholesalers, they decided to move the company to larger premises. During this time the first in-house designer joined the company and PANDORA began to focus on creating its own unique jewellery. Just seven years after opening that small jewellery store, the company decided to start manufacturing its jewellery in Thailand.
Building an International Brand
It was PANDORA’s unique charm bracelet concept that launched in the year 2000 in the Danish market that led the company to international fame and success. As consumers embraced the concept and demand for the products continued to rise, PANDORA entered new markets including the United States, Germany, and Australia.
In 2005, PANDORA opened a large scale, six-story fully-owned manufacturing facility in Thailand to increase their production capacity. By 2010, three more facilities were opened in the same area further strengthening their unique production setup.
Today
To this day PANDORA continues to operate and manage a vertically integrated business model from in-house design and manufacturing to global marketing and direct distribution in most markets. Their mission, which has never changed, is to offer women across the world a universe of high quality, hand-finished, modern and genuine jewellery products at affordable prices, thereby inspiring women to express their individuality.
